About Northshore Bees

Specializing in mite resistant queen bees with superior genetics for healthier and more productive hives.

We are located in Southeast Louisiana, just north of Lake Pontchartrain.

We select for gentleness, mite resistance, and productivity. Our breeder colonies don't get treated for mites. They undergo multiple mite washes throughout the season along with Harbo assays. Only the best queens in our apiaries are grafted from.

Our stock started as survivor stock and POL line from the USDA Bee Lab in Baton Rouge has been added. We are part of a 5-year breeding program with the Bee Lab trying to get more resistant stock into more apiaries.
